Transmission Global Summit Canada

20 Jan
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on  February 9-11, 2011

Transmission: GLOBAL  SUMMIT is:
1. An invitation-only, 150-person maximum, roundtable initiative focused on connecting leaders, thinkers, entrepreneurs and creators on the future of digital objects in the creative industries and how they will be monetized.
2. The annual flagship event for a series of annual initiatives – which fall under the umbrella of transmitNOW – taking place in both developed and emerging markets including transmitCHINA (est. 2008), transmitBRAZIL (est. 2010), and transmitISRAEL (2011).  transmitINDIA, transmitAFRICA and transmitRUSSIA are currently under development.
Keynote speakers include:
• Rob Wells (President of Global Digital Business, Universal Music Group)
• David Neale (SVP Special Projects, Research In Motion / BlackBerry)
• Eric Baptiste (CEO, SOCAN)
• Scott Belsky (CEO & Co-founder, Behance)
• Wu Jun (Serial Entrepreneur, Founder & CEO, R2G)
And a short list of attending companies can be found here: http://www.transmitnow.com/transmission2011/conference/participants
As a result of a new alignment with CBC, the conference host for the fifth edition of transmission: GLOBAL SUMMIT will be Nora Young, Host & Creator of “Spark”, CBC Radio One.
Our Process:
1. A two-day roundtable intensive that involves the customized selection and programming of over forty-five individual sit downs. Each participant sits in three roundtables over two days. No group ever sits twice.
2. The composition of the roundtables are cross-sectoral and are composed of elite executives, entrepreneurs, academics, and influencers who function within the creative economy.
3. The roundtables are inspired and preceded by a small selection of high level presentations and interviews that are intended to make us re-think how we manage our work as individuals and companies.
Our Reputation:
1. transmitNOW events are globally recognized for the quality of our participants, the exclusive intimacy and elegance of our environments, and the progressive and intellectual nature of our dialogue.
2. Our roundtable format has received praise every year for creating an environment offering executives both an honest and open platform to share and express ideas, and yet our “Chatham House Rules” policy has maintained an air of confidentiality important to high level executives.
What people say about us:
1. While we tend to avoid advertising transmission: GLOBAL SUMMIT as a result of our intimate, invite-only approach, our design has inspired others to scale our roundtable model in North America (Canadian Music Week, TED Talks), Europe (Is This It) and Asia (transmitCHINA).
2.  While we have been touted as the ‘TED of Music Conferences’ (a generous exaggeration from our perspective), our real achievements are in developing dialogue platforms that actually generate change. For instance, we perceive one of our achievements in hosting meetings in China 2010 that began the process to have Canadian industry heads facilitate bringing Chinese publishers into the International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP).
Summary:
1. You should consider attending because this experience is truly different, and we work hard to attract “transmittters” who are leaders, not followers.
2. We are increasingly being identified as the tip of the spear when it comes to thought leadership platforms in the creative industries space.
3. In the end of the day we are a think-tank, not a conference driven by critical mass. This makes the experience that much more special.

Invitation to MMF // AIM Meeting

23 Nov

The MMF Ireland invites you to a short presentation and open discussion forum at 1pm on Tuesday 30th November at the Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar.

We believe that the MMF in Ireland has established some firm foundations and we want to build on our success to create a stronger organisation and a more meaningful voice to further the causes that are important to us all – both our members and everyone working in Music in Ireland.

As a key part of that, we are instigating the establishment of AIM Ireland.  The need for an Association of Independent Music in Ireland has become clear.  AIM Ireland is an organisation that could provide Independent labels and other indie music companies in Ireland a focus to champion the causes that are crucial to independent success in Ireland today.

In the UK, the MMF and AIM have announced a collaboration bringing their members closer together in recognition of the huge overlap between the people and challenges facing the two organisations.

The industry in Ireland needs a new united voice and a strong MMF-AIM Alliance can be the starting point.

We hope you will join us and help make this important step forward for all of us working in the music industry in Ireland today.

Best regards,

Alan Cullivan,
Chairman of MMF Ireland
& The Board of Directors of MMF Ireland
